11 weeks ago fractured tib & fib plus shattered ankle. Is the physiotherapy meant to be such agony?

Question:

Answers:
unfortunately yes...

if you don't get your body back used to using the leg and putting weight on it again, it will atrophy. If you wait until the breaks are pain free, it will be too late.

take comfort in the pain because it means that you will eventually be able to walk normally, or near normally again when you get through it.
No pain, no gain!
It is very painful to break your ankle. If you have shattered it,it will even more painful than breaking it.I snapped my ankle bone right in two on a parachute jump. That was a traumatic injury, mostly because it hurt so much.

When I saw it laying sideways on the ground, that was nothing. That was just a visible clue of more to follow.
It hurt more than anything that I have experienced so far.
During physical therapy, the therapaist laid his arm on it to loosen it up.That brought my butt up into the air and I let out a howl.

That thing went POP,POP,POP!!
It brought me to tears.I was sweating and shaking too,I was a mess after that session. It took the rest of the day to get over it.I was eating Motrins.

Without the PT,my ankle would have frozen up in place. That is the choice involved. It must be manually loosened up so that it is flexible again. The pain is from the frozen parts breaking loose.
