Strained Rhomboid Muscle?
Question:
No matter what I am doing, laying down on my stomach, back, sitting forward or sitting flat on a couch or riding in a car the pain is just about unbearable.
I have had two cortisone shots in it now, both which have completely removed the lumps which have been there for months, but the pain is still there.
I do not want another shot as I know the side effects, but cannot be any more careful than I already am being, as far as trying to let it heal. I don't even open my own car door or anything.
It has been this way for a little over 4 months now.
Any tips or any experience in this area?
Thankyou

It may sound silly, since the pain is not in your shoulder, but you might try a sling for a few days.
The rhomboids play a major role in stabilizing the scapula, and any arm motion requires movement of this bone. So, no matter what you do, you are going to be placing stress on the injured tissue. A properly fit sling may help reduces some of the tension on the area and provide some relief.
I have treated one patient with similar complaints before with a sling and it worked very well.
Well, i'd go see someone about it. Like a capractor.(sp) this might help. Or Go see a doctor.
