You may have carpal tunnel problems or repetitive strain injury. I am not a doctor. I did a search on thumb numbness, and listed a few sources below. Check them out. It really sounds like you need to see the doctor. The numbness may go away for a while, but for it to stay for 3 days, that is unusual enough to seek a physician's diagnosis.

Think about the activities you do. As I was searching, I noted that musicians and cyclists had problems with thumb numbness. There is also something called bowler's thumb caused by too small a hole in the bowling ball. I would think that if you are a video game enthusiast, that could possibly be a culprit, too.
How about seeing the doc? No one on here can have a clue what is going on without examining you.
this might be serious and you should go to the doctors office asap. it might be a bug bite
it may be a small stroke i had one and i am only 32 plz go to a doc
