Broken arm!?
Question:

Depending on the break you could be setting yourself up for trouble - at best the bones will displace and heal, causing a deformity (crooked wrist) with possible permanent loss of function. The danger with a wrist fracture isn't lateral movement (side to side) but the direct front to back pressure. In other words, if you're still using your hand to push or pull you're causing more damage all the time. A wrist support will only control side to side movement. Everytime the bone shifts even slightly the whole healing process has to start again - you'll end up with bone calluses and possible nerve damage. Nerve damage can result in permanent disability, loss of feeling or chronic pain in the area. At worst you'll get muscle atrophy (your muscles will shrink) and you'll lose some function.
Get the cast replaced - they'll have to x-ray it again to see what damage you've done and they may need to re-set it.
how did you take the cast off?? They used a hospital saw on mine..
It is extremely unlikely that it will heal 'ok'. If you keep it still and don't use it, it will heal but probably in the wrong position and you risk never being able to use it properly again.
Go and get it re-plastered NOW ... 6 weeks is not so long to get back the full use of your arm and hand for the rest of your life.
The bone hasnt healed properly yet. I doubt if the two broken ends have even joined up properly. There is a good chance that you could break it again with very little effort or your arm could heal up crooked. Casts are there to protect the break and keep it straight and stationary until the body has had enough time to heal itself. I would get another cast put on.
How very silly - get back to hospital now and get it re-plastered...that's if you want to have a fully functional arm for the rest of your life.
Don't worry, the bone will still heal. The cast simply keeps the bone in a fixed position to assist the healing process. You will have to be very careful not to cause additional damage to the bone by moving it the wrong way or hitting it.
If you want to have the bone heal much faster, you can. You can actually speed the healing by 2/3 by doing the following:
Go to www.healthline.cc (not .com) purchase these products.
1. nucleotides - take 15 per day (buy two bottles)
2. bone & joint - take 10 of these per day
3. coral complex - take 10 of these per day.
If you do the above, your bone should be healed within 7 to 10 days max. You will amaze your doctor and he will not believe it because most of them do not have a clue about nutrition and the power of nutrients.
I have personal experience of seeing this happen and it works. I suggested the above to a worker that was in an accident where a horse fell on him and broke his pelvis. The x-rays showed a big crack in his pelvis. The doctor told him it would be 6 to 8 weeks or more to heal. In one week after following the above, another x-ray revealed NO CRACK. The doctor was very puzzled. He looked at both x-rays to be sure he was looking at the right ones.
The nucleotides are also good to take if you feel you are coming down with a cold. Just take 1 or 2 per hour every hour and the next day you will not have a cold.
If you get a cold, just take them this way and you will be over the cold in 2 days, max 3.
good luck to you
A pity they couldn't put your brain in a cast!! Hope you enjoy the deformity that will most likely ensue, which may result in limited use.
Provided that you are very careful you should be OK but if the break has not healed to a stable point then it could heal in a way that could leave you with a deformity for the rest of your life. Also as you get older you will suffer with pain like you have never experienced. Get it checked out before you get to such a stage.
no it will not heal OK the reason the plaster cast was put on in the 1st place was to allow the bone to heal without a problem .This will not be able to heal now as you have removed the protection .
the objective of the cast is for it to not move at all so it probably was not smart to take off the cast
The cast was there to immobilise your arm so you didn't make the fracture worse. A week is way to short to have taken it off. The worst that can happen is the two ends of your fracture mal align as there's no support now and you get a poorly functioning arm, a worse range of movement.
You had better go back to your doctor and admit what you have done and tell him why and ask what's the best course of action now. If you are lucky you'll get away with it but without an x-ray to check how it is healing you'll never know.
