Having been close to death many times... and having been in that same situation as many times... I can assure you... it's the last thing on your mind... self-consciousness... embarrassment... hang ups of any kind... you really don't give a damn... not when your life is in the balance!

Ha! I've had 2 kids in my local hospital, believe me, there was nothing left to hang my dignity on.
I'm a nurse and I see people from all walks of life and we dont take any notice of hairy legs, personal hygeine, funny clothes etc. We're more concerned about getting you better.
And at the end of the day if your that embarrassed best sort yourself out so your not caught short!
Once you've had kids it gets hard to be embarrassed by anything.
I was in a car accident and had glass all over me and all the nurse wanted to know is if the hole in my pantyhose was because of the accident or it was there before.
Then another nurse came in and wanted to know what kind of makeup I use because she liked it.
I would of been mad that they cared more about my looks than treating me but I was not seriously injured and it was nice talking to them.
There is almost nothing that embarrasses me anymore , I'm out of that age . Hospitals ? They've seen it all before .
Having had to go to hospital before at about 4am I can honestly say I wasn't embarassed about anything. I wore an old work t-shirt that was too big for me and an ex's hoodie. Looked (and felt) a mess but really didn't care. If your going there urgently I would imagine there are more important things on your mind. No?
