How long are you supposed to not sleep for after hitting your head?

It's a wive's tale that people should not sleep after a blow to the head. Sleep is fine--as long as there is someone to periodically assess whether the injured person can be roused from sleep.

That said, a blow to the head hard enough to create concern about sleep is probably one that should be evaluated by a doctor.

Things to look for in terms of brain injury include pupils that are unequal in size or do not respond equally to light, nausea, vomiting, disorientation, confusion, slurred speech, light sensitivity, and so on.
Send him to the hospital straight away because it will help avoid problems later down the road.
at least 4-6 hours . I f there is any blurry or double vision, severe headache that won't go away,nausea,vomiting,or any other unusual signs got to the hospital a.s.a.p. good luck
3 hour's. unless he was absolutely exhausted before he bumped his head. if that's the case. he can sleep but someone has to check his breathing OFTEN.

he should be ok if he's not dizzy, throwing up. seeing double. if any of this is happening tell his mom or your an adult take your self to the hospital. you may have cracked his skull.
