Sharp pain the back right of the head, made worse by moving neck or putting pressure on teeth?

Question:
My boyfriend is underway with the NAVY and he wrote me a few days ago saying that he had been experiencing a sharp pain in his back right of his head, which hurt when he turned his neck or put pressure on his teeth. He told me it happens about five or six times a day. My first instinct was he pulled some muscles or perhaps injured his head somehow, but he thinks its worse, possibly a tumor. I'm trying to do more research now, and i've come in contact with suggestions that it might be meningitis, a brain hemmorhage, a possible aneurism leading to stroke...i need to know what this is!
If there's a doctor out there who could help me, that would be great!

Answers:
Its very unlikely that his pain is associated with a tumor or head bleed of any type. While they cannot be completly ruled out, it is much more likely something simple and non life threatening. Things as simple as sinus pressure to a pinched nerve can cause all of these symptoms. Have him discuss the issue with the coremen medics onboard his ship. I'm sure they will get to the bottom of the issue. Let him know this is certailnly nothing to get too excited about.
Tell him to see a Dr. at his base. There really is no way to tell you what it is unless he sees a Dr. It could be anything from wisdom teeth to a problem with a salivary gland to TMJ.who knows! I'm surprised he would send you a letter telling you he thought he had a tumor. Send him a letter back and tell him to relax and go see a Dr...it could even be a tension issue. Good Luck, hope its nothing serious!
Don't get to stressed out. It is easy to think of only the bad things and that causes really bad anxiety. Try not to stress yourself out, you need to be strong. Is this headache made worse by light or noise? Do not rule out the possibility of a migraines. Here check this site out. It explains three different types of headaches and their causes and treatment. See if he has any of these other symptoms. http://ncnc.essortment.com/typesheadache...
Also if he is in the NAVY there should be a doctor for him to see. This may be a very good idea if not just to calm the mind.
It sounds like it could be TMJ which is where your jaw is out of alignment. Usually you have to go to a dentist to have corrected. I was in a wreck in 1996 and I kept getting extreme migraines and I couldn't hardley move my head side to side and I couldn't open my mouth very wide and I couldn't bite down very hard,I had to go to an oral surgeon and have a retainer made to realign my jaw. I still have to use it every once in a while, like if i start getting frequent headaches or sometimes if I yawn or am eating my jaw will lock. Then I know I need to start using it again. According to my dentist there are several ways this can happen.
does your b/f have a history of arthritis or stiffness with his joints?

Does the sharp pain feels like pinching of the nerves?

If it's arthritis related, the sharp pain will subside leaving the person with a very stiff neck. Ask him to see the doctor.

For the mean-time, he can use a heating pad - you know those water rubber bottle, put hot water into it and wrap it around his neck to ease the muscle spasm. Ice work fine - but Heat seems more better.

BTW could it also be wisdom teeth?

cheers
