What is a good guide for a dialysis diet?
Question:
Answers:
While there are some general similarities in diets for those who are on dialysis such as restrictions on fluid, electrolytes and increased protein, the specific diets are individualized. If you have questions or are finding contradictions you should take those issues up with the registered dietitian who has formulated the diet. If you continue to be unhappy I recommend you find another registered dietitian. You can ask at your dialysis center, your doctor or the National Kidney Foundation at the website below.
dont eat too much protiens ( meats)(which accelerate the kidney failure) &
dont drik too much water (*which is hard to get rid off because the kidneys can't filter water very efficiently)
also too much potassium is bad ( like banana because the kidneys can not handle too much potassium).
these are the main lines.
If she's confused about the lists of foods that are ok to eat, the dialysis center she goes to should have a dietician available to talk to about her diet (I say SHOULD, since I don't know where she is on dialysis at). I was on dialysis, and had a different diet than other people on dialysis. Everybody's different and have different dietary needs.
