Cervical cancer vaccination?
Question:
I am also 12. Will I really need one at my age?
Answers:
It is actually a HPV (Human Pappiloma Virus) Vaccine. It is recommended for girls before they become sexually active because HPV is transmitted through sexual contact. About 80% of women have HPV and most of them don't even know it. There are over 100 strains of HPV, 4 of which are known to cause cervical cancer, those are the ones the vaccine protects against. As for the vaccine itself, it is a series of 3 intramuscular injections, similar to a tetanus shot. You may feel some soreness and stiffness at the site of the injection for a day or two after the injection. As a nurse, I highly recommend getting the vaccine. Cervical cancer has a tendacy to spread very quickly and can be very fatal. Any protection is a bonus. You're doctor should explain everything to you before you get the vaccine. Just ask him/her the same questions you asked us.

I don't know how painfull it might be, but if it can save your life you should do it. And now is the best time for it at your age. P.S.---- if you are afraid of needles, don't look, focus on something else.
Yes, get the vaccine, it can save your life, Listen to the nurse who wrote in, she has very good advice.
