Acne scars--Microder. or Laser Resurfacing?

Question:
I have acne scars on my face and neck, Some are just discolorations, but others are pits in my skin. I am thinking of trying one of these options and since I have to pay for it I would like to know if one is more successful than the other? Also is it a waste of time to do it if I'm still getting breakouts?

Answers:
I've had microdermabrasion and I don't see that much of a difference, it costs alot and didn't do much for me. I wasn't harsh enough for laser resurfacing so I don't know a lot about that one from personal reference, but they did tell me that some bad things or side effects can happen, like streaks and when the skin doesn't accept it, it might be worse than what you started with. If you are still having breakout then it is definitely a waste of time, I think that's what happened to me: I did the micro first before I was all cleared up. Need to kick the acne and breakouts before trying to work on the scars or nothing will ever get fixed, it'll just become a horrible circle. Good luck in what you decide, It is definitely a crappy situation to have to be in.

Other Answers:
Microdermabrasion is an effective treatment for the scars. My mother had some pretty yucky looking scars on her face, and she went it and her skin looked 10x better. Really. She looked younger too. I'd go with the microderabrasion first, and see how that works.

I will suggest microderm, it helps change the make up of your skin for the best. But consult an dermatologist first. Laser resurfacing requires more recovery time. It's not a generalized do it or dont do it, it depends on you. I choose microderm and it was great :-) Please, save your money! Don't go somewhere and get one of those expensive treatments done. The first thing that you need is a really good skin care regimen to take care of the acne since you're still getting breakouts. The purpose of Microdermabrasion is really to get rid of layers of dead skin and minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. There is a product by Mary Kay called TimeWise Even Complexion Essence ($35). http://www.marykay.com/daryn_anderson/whatsnew/newproducts/complexionessence.aspx?tab=whatsnew It helps to even out your skin tone and give you a healthy glow. I've tried it and it really does work. The results are amazing! If you'd like, I can help you with a skin care regimen to take care of your acne problem and really help to clear your skin. If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symposium and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.
For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.

Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.
Oh, by the way the site that helped me is:
