There are LOTS of other antibiotics that can be used. Examples include Bactrim or Septra (Trimethoprim/Sulfamethoxasole. Cipro (Ciprofloxacin), Levaquin (Levofloxacin), Keflex (cephalexin), and Ceftin (cefuroxime) to name a few.
Course of treatment may be as little as 3 days, but usually 7-10 days at most. They are all available with a doctor's prescription.
Other Answers:
Well a good alternative mediacation to this is Septra, aka Bactrim. This is excellent for UTI's.
This is confusing me a little. Why was your aunt prescribed a med that's not available in your country? Where was she when this happened? Check the answer above mine, from the Pediatrician. He's mentioned a number of good meds. Don't wait for the appointment, contact the doctor now and ask about these meds.
