Is it legal to require staff -in a health care agency-DDA- to pay for their PPD?

Question:
Do OSHA regulations require PPD's for group home employees? And if the PPD is required shouldn't the agency pay for it?

Answers:
If you are refering to a PPD (mantoux test) to test for TB than no, it is not an OSHA requirement, most likely a state DOH rule. Most real employers will pay for a PPD as part of a pre-employment physical that they also pay for.

If your employer requires that you pay for your own, and supply them with the results (very bogus) you are working for a cheap place. I predict you will be fighting for every minute of overtime you will work.

I wish you luck, I lasted 12 months as a senior counselor in a county run juvenile facility. Keep accurate pay records, this sounds like a place you'd be advised to double check your pay check.

Other Answers:
A PPD is required for all health care workers, as far as payment goes that depends on the employer, some companys pay for it as an incentive for the employee to work for them, while others take it out of their 1st checks.
