is it possible to buid up immunity to insulin shots for diabetes?
Question:
Answers:
No, because insulin shots are just straight insulin-what your body is supposed to produce. If you are on insulin, either your pancreas isn't secreting any insulin at all, or barely any. If you are type 2 diabetic, your pancreas is still secreting some insulin, but not much. You can be given oral hypoglycemics that can cause your pancreas to secrete more insulin, but usually, eventually, your pancreas just can't do it anymore, and you have to go to the insulin shots. But no, no immunity to the insulin shots.
Also, different kinds of insulin are not for when you've become immune to insulin, but they have different times of action. For instance, asparte is a short acting insulin that is effective within 15 minutes after you have the shot, and regular is effective 30-60 mins after you take it. Its so you can have better coverage, not becuase you are immune.

Yes it is. That is why there are different kinds of insulin, and the different tests to make sure that your hemoglobin A1C is still under check.
I'm not sure that it would be called an immunity, but it is possible to develop a tolerance for a particular brand of insulin. Sugar levels can then get out of control. Your doctor should work with you to find a form of insulin that will work for you.
No, I don't think so. It's not very common to build immunities to medicine, especially insulin.
i hope not i've been on insulin for 8 yrs it still seems to work well though
no, not really. just different need according to what you eat and your resistance level, if you are type 2 or "1.5".
yes, some people can be and have allergies to it.
Yes you can build up a immunity to insulin. Luckily there are many types of insulin so you have other options. My son has built up calluses and cant use a finger and has hard spots he can not inject into because of repeated use. Insulin immunity is one my list of fearful things.
