Chigger bites?

Question:
My 1 year old daughter has a LOT of chigger bites on the tops and backs of her legs. What do you do for them? Are they dangerous?

Answers:
They are not dangerous, and since the rash is an allergic reaction, giving her the appropriate dose by weight of Benadryl would be very helpful. The bigger danger is infection from her scratching. If you can keep socks on her hands, keep the area very clean where the bites are, or atleast keep her nails cut very short, she will be in good shape.

Other Answers:
Put nail polish over them. This kills them. That's what my ex husband did to them.
wash the bite with soap and water. Put on some calamine lotion or cool compresses to help with the itching, or an adult can find an anti-itch cream or medicine at the drugstore for you. Try not to scratch the bites too much, because this can make the bites become infected.

What a Doctor Will Do
Because chigger bites are so itchy, many people do get an infection from scratching the bites. If this happens, the doctor will prescribe a medication to help with the itching and a medicine to clear up the infection.
nail polish over them helps alot they get under your skin so it kills them.
Since I was a child my grandmother, aunts and my mother always put clear fingernail polish on chigger bites. It works.
