Is augmentin antibiotics suitable for my friend?

My best friend complain having occasional pain at his private part and after taking urine tests, he was prescribed to take augmentin antibiotics for 5 days. Doctor says its a minor infectious and will soon recover if he takes the medicine. However after 5 days,he still feel that the pain is still there. What's wrong with my friend.

Meanwhile, he could try Ibuprofen over the counter for the pain and continue to drink a lot of water to flush out the infection.
