Is augmentin antibiotics suitable for my friend?
Question:
Answers:
sounds like he need more than Augmentin, he needs levofloxin. He's got a broad spectrum infection. and maybe he could be passing a kidney stone and the doc doesn't realize it.
Other Answers:
He should have a re-check with the doctor.
5 days may not have been long enough for him. He may need to be on the same medicine a few more days, or try a new antibiotic. This happens quite often.
Augmentin is an appropriate drug for a urinary tract infection, which is what I suspect your friend has from your description. If he is taking his medicine like the doctor prescribed it (swallowing whole every 8 or 12 hours probably) his symptoms should resolve soon. Since it has been five days, if his symptoms are worsening or not improving, I would recommended going back to the doctor. Meanwhile, he could try Ibuprofen over the counter for the pain and continue to drink a lot of water to flush out the infection.
Hope this helps!
