Answers:
Have you seen your cardiologist lately or have you had to use GTN spray for the pain?
If so, it is wise to book appointment with your doctor. Sometimes stents may get blocked and a new angioplasty (PTCA) is appropriate, but you'll know for sure when you have spoken to your doctor. If the pain gets worse and it is the same type of chest pain you may have had when you had heart attack, you must go to ER right away.

When you feel chest pain, it usually means that oxygen is not getting to a part of the heart. The part that is not getting oxygen is dying. Sounds like you need to check in with your cardiologist, who may want to do an echo, stress test, or even an angiogram to see whats going on. Good luck!

Go see your doctor immediately. Although it can be nothing you may also have developed restenosis, which is a reocclusion of the coronary artery, this time not by plaque deposits but by your own cellular response. If you had the stents implanted 4 years ago for sure you have bare metal stents. Bare metal stents had a rate of 20-40% of reocclusion due to restenosis. Restenosis is an abnormal celular growth around the stent walls which eventually will restrict the blood flow through the artery.

Three years ago Cordis Corporation released to market the Cypher drug coated stent. The drug coating around the metal mesh reduces restenosis probability to less than 5%!!. Again go see your cardiologist.
