As is the case with dengue or West Nile fever, the symptoms include fever, headache, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, muscle pain, rash, and joint pain. It usually passes in about a week but the fatigue can last another two to three weeks.
There is no vaccine or specific antiviral treatment for chikungunya fever. The Center for Disease Control suggests that reatment is symptomatic--rest, fluids, and ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), naproxen, acetaminophen (Tylenol), or paracetamol may relieve symptoms of fever and aching.
Please note that Aspirin should be avoided
