So what is this IBC about. No not rootbeer. The breast cancer that is so agressive and kills just about all.?

Question:
I hear it is a new cancer and not detectable by mammogram and that we need to be really concerned as it is deadly. Anyone have more information? Like how this has developed. How is it treated is it treated the same as other breast cancers? Is a mutation of what causes breast cancer. Does this cancer affect any other organs simularly??

Answers:
The inflammatory carcinoma of the breast is a rare but aggressive form of breast cancer that is found in the bloodstream and lymph nodes. Unfortunately it is hard to detect because it is undetectable by traditional screening.

As a result, diagnosis tends to take place at a later stage, when the cancer has spread further. Mammograms usually do not show this form of cancer. Thus, the patient really needs to find this on their own! Signs, include: a sunburn like rash, breast bruising, itching skin that's thickened or dimpled, warm swollen breasts, sharp shooting pain, and flattened or inverted nipple.

Other Answers:
It is not a new cancer. Inflammatory Breast Cancer, IBC, is an extrememly quick and aggresive form of breast cancer (there are 64 different variations of breast cancer) that doctors often dismiss as an infection of breast feeding difficulty. Anyone with a problem with their breast must learn about IBC and demand testing if they suspect they have it.

My very good friend Menya Wolfe died of the disease after battling it for years, as a gift to other women, Menya and her husband Pete created the IBC Support and Help pages to help people learn more about this horrible type of breast cancer.
