what acromegaly means?give its cause, effect, presenta. and remedy?

Question:

Answers:
Acromegaly is an endocrine disorder of the pituitary gland in which tumors on the gland causes in an excessive production of GH (growth hormone). In children before growth is over, it causes gigantism. It occurs more commonly in middle age, however. It causes overgrowth of bones, tissue swelling, and enlargement of organs and can be fatal if not caught early enough and treated.

The treatment is surgery, the removal of the pituitary gland tumors. In some cases that is not enough and the patient will need to be treated with certain medications as well. The medications used help shrink the size of the tumors and decrease the secretion of GH. These medications are bromocriptine and octreotide.
