Allergies...?

Question:
My 7 year old allergy blood test is off the charts. His doctor called me this morning and told me he has never seen a child with this many allergies to foods and other stuff. He is to go to an allergy specialist in a couple of weeks. My child is an asthmatic on singulair and pulmicort and suffers from eczema which is hard to control. Anyone with this sort of experience and if so, what have you done to protect yourself from all these allergies? Would going from carpet to hardwood floors work? I also have a chihuahua that he just adores and I hate to get find a new home for her.

Answers:
Get into the allergist ASAP...in the meantime, limit the top 10 food allergins (bc they're so dangerous) - dairy, eggs, wheat, peanuts, treenuts, soy, shellfish, etc.. Also, I'd avoid the oatmeal bath (sorry whoever posted that) since you've got food allergies involved.

You could rip up the carpet, cover the bed with dustmite covers, get an air purifier, etc. but as my AWESOME ped allergist told me, you can reduce the number of allergins, but because you're not REMOVING all of them (impossible outside of a bubble), you'll still react. Sigh. It's hard.

Also, don't mess around with just ANY allergist, go to a children's hospital or a really highly recommended allergist - and beware of some of the dangerous advice here. You're not messing with something silly.

Poor child well there good cure for eczema try using oatmeal. Put the oatmeal in muslin bag and put it in the bath oatmeal is full of vitamin E and great for eczema don't put an thing else in the bath OK. Your child could be allergic to family pet. Example dogs hairs etc
I have severe bronchial and allergic asthma. I'm allergic to almost everything outside and numerous foods. I take weekly allergy shots. I try to wear a mask outside when the wind is up, I don't go outside on ozone alert days until late evening to water my garden. My doctor told me no carpet. I have a chihuahua, but I'm not allergic to dogs. I'm allergic to cats, sheep, birds and horses. I can't go swimming because of the difference of land and water temperatures, they are too extreme for me. I use an Advair inhaler as well as nebulizer many times a day. I've had problems in the past getting off of steriods but finally conquered it with a 16 day hospital stay last August. I've only had to be on them going on my 3rd time now since and so far, had no problems coming off them. They have done some serious damage to my body but i've had to have them. I sometimes feel like a hermit but I have decided that I'm going to control it and not let it control me so I have taken up many hobbies within the house like sewing and ironing for other people and the computer. Indoor activities for a child could be a little harder than for an adult but he may adapt more easily than you can expect. Bless his heart, I totally understand what you and he are going through. Try getting air-purifiers for all rooms of your home he spends a lot of time in, especially his bedroom. They seem to help me, I just need another one. Take everyday one day at a time. Good luck
