anyone have mod-severe vertigo?

Question:
i have had this condition for like 3 years. i dont have any ear problems and have had every test you can imagine. i've been through physical therapy. it comes and goes and there is nothing that i can do or take that helps. there does not seem to be any certain thing that triggers it either. i have been to a lot of different doctors and no one can give me an answer. they tell me it should go away on its own. but after 3 years i just cant take it. anyone have the problem or any thing i can do to stop the dizziness?

Answers:
I have it. Reduce your sodium intake. I take Meclizine to help on the not so bad days. When it is bad I take Meclizine and Xanax which helps deaden the nerve to the inner ear.

Are you having problems with allergies? I take Zyrtec and Flonase to help keep my ears unplugged because any sort of congestion makes it worse.

We also found that I was having clotting problems called APS and some of this got better once I got on some anticoagulation. Something to ask your doctor about.

I do know how you are feeling. Knock on wood...I haven't had it too bad as of late.

Good Luck!

My husband has vertigo. It just hits him with no warning. He says the room starts spining and he can't even stand up. He will have a series of episodes and then none for months. His doctor said it is an inner ear problem. He takes Antivert and just has to wait for the dizziness to wear off. He has to "reprogram" himself every so often. That is where he sits on the side of the bed and tilts his head to one side and then the other. I wish there was a better answer to the problem.
Yes I do. I have just had CyberKnife radiation on a brain tumor. I take Meclazine.
I have had vertigo for about 5 years now. It does come and go like you say. I have learned a few things that triggers mine and of course I try to avoid those. If I am having a really bad day I try to stay still usually in bed and it will go away. There are different degrees of dizziness. Ones where the room is spinning..this one you have to stay very still and hope it will go away. There are times you may turn your head too fast and you get dizzy, and also you could bend over and trigger dizziness. I have not read anything that says it will go away. I can usually feel mine coming on and know what I can do and can't do. It is really had to deal with on a day to day basis, in time you learn what you can do and can't do. See if you can pin point one or two things you might do to trigger it and if you can do somethings differently. Medication only helps with nausea.
