Question:

Answers:
Cheap way to treat lymphedema is ace bandages. Wrap them around feet and legs. Start wrapping feet from toes to ankle to leg. It should be tight but not so tight that it cuts off circulation.

The other way is TED Hoses which applies more pressure that support stockings.

Other Answers:
It's difficult to massage your own legs for this. You could get some benefit from wearing thigh high TEDS stockings. These will run you about $20 per pair, but they're very durable. Your local pharmacy should carry them, but sometimes you need a script. Another strategy is to use ace bandages. Start at the foot and wrap them tightly upwards, all the way up to your thighs. Also, rest with your feet elevated above your heart. And, lastly, many people with this problem need to lose weight.
Elevate your legs when lying down and before getting up you have to put on your ted hose. Find time during the day to elevate your legs. You might need to take some diuretics. Maybe you albumin is low which is a component of protein. Have you seen your doctor?
I you want to massage your legs to reduce edema, the most important thing to remember is to massage toward your heart. This is direction that lymph flows.

Use long strokes from knee to thigh and ankle to knee to slowly move the lymph from the lower limb back to where it can empty back into the circulatory system. Whatever you do, don't push or massage towards your feet.

If you are not massaging, elevating your legs is a good idea, to let gravity help you.
