Pre diabetic.how do you know before MD visit?

Question:
weight? tests do not show I am pre diabetic but I am getting concerned. difficult to lose weight @ this time (surgical menopause)

Answers:
Keep a log book of blood glucose checks. Best time to check is first when you wake up (fasting, normal 70-90) and then before you eat (normal 90-110) and then 2 hours after you eat (normal 100-150). This should give you a good idea..

Please talk to your doctor about your concerns. This IS NOT the forum for reliable medical advice, unless you want to get advice from teenage bag boys, and the guy who cleans the city pool.
Your surgery and other factors beside blood sugar issues could affect your ability to lose weight. Talk to your health care provider, they can give you a healthy nutritional and exercise plan.

Weight isn't the only sign, that just comes with age unfortunately. Feeling really sluggish, no matter how much sleep is one sign. Being extremely thirsty no matter how much water you drink is a big one. Needing to go to the bathroom an excessive amount, day and night, is a big one too. Having diabetes in your family is something to consider as well. Always best to check with doctor. Good luck!

While weight is a contributing factor to diabetes, being overweight doesn't necessarily mean that you will suffer from diabetes.
Diabetes occurs when the body doesn't have enough insulin, or doesn't manage the insulin it has properly.Insulin occurs naturally and is secreted from the pancreas.
You can tgest your blood sugar levels at home with an inexpensive machine called a glucometer.
Generally speaking unchecked diabetes has symptoms that are fairly evident: Tremendous thirst, frequent urination ,headache, and fatigue are tell-tale signs, and require immediate attention.
There are many effective anti-diabetic medecines available, so don't assume that you're going to have to give yourself injections.
hope this info helps a lot of times there are no symptoms since it is still just mild diabetes, cant tell for sure except by a blood test so you might as well stop worrying and trying to diagnose yourself and wait and see how the results turn out
