Do you think the government should compensate living organ donors?

Question: Do you think the government should compensate living donors for their time off work and the expenses they incur donating a kidney? The way it is now the donor is not reimbursed for their wages or traveling to donate unless the recipients family can afford to pay. My daughter is waiting to get a deceased or living kidney. Yes , this could be so much help. Some said they would compensate the donor but by the time you need the kidney you have already spent every dime you have. I don't think most people realize how many people die waiting for a transplant and how much it would help if more people donated organs.

no i think if someone is going to be a donour and signs that card thats there choice i meanit would be nice but ppl dont give there organs away unless they want to . gov't compensation would be lovely but i donthtink it willhappen any time soon which is a sad thing but at least we know ppl arent in it for the money ......

It would be nice if they were compensated, but most donors don't do it for the money or the glory. I know if I had the opportunity to save someone's life, I'd do it whether I was compensated or not. I'm a college student and a single mom so I'm not very well off financially, but I'd do it no matter what. Good luck to you and your daughter.

Why should the government be responsible, it is not something they are requiring someone to do. If someone donated a kidney to me, I would definetly pay them some kind of tribute. My insurance would cover their operation and I would make sure they are compensated somehow

I believe they should for the simple reason more people would be willing to donate much needed organs.......it's a sad truth and I hope a donor is found very soon for your daughter. You're all in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless and keep you always.

No. I'm a registered Organ and Blood Donor. The Quality and Safety of Donated Blood is far superior to "Sold" Blood. I Suspect the same would hold true for Donated Organs.
