HSV2 recurrences?

Question: Im pretty sure I have hsv2, ive been reading about it over here and over the web. My problem is that I thought recurrence would be like 3-4 times a year and less after that. In my case i've had like 3-4 occurrences already in like 2months. Its quite annoying as I cant have sex. The duration of each last around 2-3 days.
Is there anything else I should know about?

Hey man I feel your pain! I have HSV2 as well and I get them every month. Mine last for 3 weeks and then being a female I have that other problem right afterward so I know a thing or two about no sex. GRR! You should probably go to your doctor and get it all checked out and see if you can get Valtrex. That seems to work well to lessen the amount of outbreaks and the amount of time it takes to heal them. I am going to leave a link to the Center for Disease Control with the information on HSVI and HSVII so that you can get any further answers that you may need.

As time goes on you should not have as many recurrences and you may even have no recurrences at all. Also, I read that you have to find out what you are doing in your life that may cause more outbreaks, such as stress, specific foods, etc. Since you are having more outbreaks, maybe you should consider daily medication that can suppress these outbreaks. Most importantly, your doctor can tell you what to do and how to handle these recurrences. You can also go to the ASHA website for helpful information about your condition and many other health issues.

Usually people get them 4 - 6 times a year their first year, but some can get them a lot more.

Have you been tested for herpes? Are you taking any medication for the outbreaks? If you haven't been to a doctor and been tested for HSV2, that would be the first place I would go. And, if you do have HSV2 then you should be taking medication either every day or just when you are having an outbreak.

It might seem like you are having a lot now, but you will get fewer as the years pass. I have had genital herpes for over 5 years now, and my last outbreak was over a year and a half ago!
