Question:

Answers:
Perhaps during adolescence... But Diabetes Type II is muce higher in the list of the leading causes of disibilities.

Other Answers:
I don't think so, since type I diabetes is about 10% of all the diabetes cases out there. But, i will tell you that it sucks, and should be considered a disability (not for parking, but for other things...)
Yes, for older people it is. It is the leading cause of nontraumatic amputations. It is also the cause of blindness and kidney failure among other things. In mexico, 40% of the beds at a hospital are related to diabetes complications.
not really, but type 1 diabetes is more dangerous than type 2 because its occur at the young age
I don't know if it is a leading cause of disability but it sure can be because of long term complications. I've had diabetes for 38 years. (Since the age of 9) I had a heart attack at the age of 40, lost my right leg at the age of 41 and had a second heart attack at the age of 43. Long term complications include neuropathy (loss of felling in limbs and extreme pain later), blockage of all arteries causing loss of legs and blindness (due to diabetic retinopathy). It's a very serious disease in the long term. Type 2 can be more serious because people ignore the symptoms causing the long term complications sooner. Keep your blood sugars under control and follow your diet! You live a longer healthier life.
Diabetes overall is the leading cause of nontraumatic amputations, and blindness. Since type 2 is more common than type 1, i'd have to say no.
Not as much as death from complications from poor control. In order for Diabetes to be a disability it must have complications such as kidney or heart failure, lose of limb, or blindness. One is only disabled if they are limited to their functions Chris Reeves was paralyzed from the neck down but was he disabled? Since stem cell research benefited from his actions and his work I think not he was still productive.
I would said YES to this question because I'm Type 1 Diabetic and I'm disable by Social Security.
Diabetes is not considered a disability, however if your sugar levels are not kept under control the complications from diabetes are disabling. Kidney Failure, Blindness are just 2 examples of the types of disabilities brought on by diabetes.
