stress?
I don't know - -but my bet is you won't get any really strong answers on this one here. Ask your doctor -- or call a hand specialist.
some kind of muscle spasm. take her to a doctor as soon as possible. this sounds serious.
this could be a problem with nerves or muscles or tendons or even a form of arthits.
sh needs to to see a doctor for a prober diagnosis
Prolly call a doctor, but in the mean time, have her move her hands ever few minutes, so they dont get lock so badly. Everyone if the have had their hand in one position for like 3 minutes, with no movement at all, they lock up. Maybe go do a yahoo search on the symptoms. Good Luck.
..useful if she gets into a sticky situation?
sorry x
My fingers lock and I have to massage/flex/stretch them to loosen them up and get them working again.
I have the onset of arthritis.
I'm not for one moment saying your daughter has the same problem.
A blood test at the Docs would rule this out.
it is possible that her symptoms are psychosomatic. People who have anxiety attacks may experience symptoms like muscle tenseness (things like your hands locking up, or seizure like symptoms), trouble breathing, rapid heartbeat, etc. I'm not sure how long her symptoms have been going on, or if there are any other accompanying symptoms, so this is just another possibility of many.
She may have Carpel Tunnel Syndrome as I have the same problem my fingers lock and become stiff when I release them . I have had the operation but still get the locking but not that much i also get oins and needles in them,.
hope this is helpul look on www.bbc.co.uk/health and click onto Carpel Tunnel and you will find the Infomation on there.
Before i was diagnosed (Rheumatoid Arthritis) and working as a cashier, my hands at nite after work would cramp up and i'd have to pry them open, pain in the base of the palm where hand/wrist connect with the prying. See a Rheumatologist. They can diagnose just about everything. Good luck.
