How can i do a simple test at home to test for diabetis?
Question:
If not how will a doctor test me for it plz?
Answers:
a simple home test is a blood glucose meter.you will need a lancet, and lances to test your blood on a test strip.I have had good luck with j and j one touch meter and test strips.the test strips are the most expensive approx 1.00 each.,bought in 2 50 unit tubes.I get some thru medicare, and the v,a, which i don't have to pay for.they are not one touch, but as good. my doctor has me do my blood sugar fasting before each meal, and at bed time.using the lancet to stick your finger approx 1/2down from the tip on either side is the least painful.do not stick your fingers on the tips,! it hurts.the doctor would have a similar meter, and his nurse or secretary could do the test in the office it takes approx 30 seconds.ask the doctor when you should take the test, such as fasting before breakfast?the doctor might have blood work done in lab. where he, she, might order the glucose test fasting before breakfast, and also the a1c1 test for your average glucose over the past 3 months, that reading they have told me that they like to see me under a reading of 7. for good control.

There's a branch of chemists will do it for free (in UK), can't remember which though.
Your doctor might take a tiny blood sample after you've not eaten for a number of hours, if the glucose level is too high it's a sign of diabetes

Snap...yes a local Chemist, probably a larger branch...it's quick, not sure on the cost. Normally it's a pin prick on a finger tip..small ammount of blood minimal pain and discomfort. Best of luck xxxx
Boots do it, not sure if it's free.
Have a diabetic friend, relative, co worker, etc... to test your glucose level with their glucometer, before and one hour after a meal that is consistent for or normal for you.
he will test my picking your finger don't worry it don't hurt
I'm a BSN/RN, just wanted to mention that there are glucose sticks that can be used to check the level of sugar in your urine. You can buy these over the counter, BUT they are not reliable. Please go with the blood testing. Many diabetics do not spill sugar into their urine until their blood glucose levels are dangerously high.
Many pharmacists will check it for you. Just call the day before and they will ask you to not drink or eat anything past midnight the night before.
If your in the UK, Lloyds & Boots chemists do free & almost instant testing, if your shy, like your photo suggest, pop into your local Asda, I just bought a testing kit for under £5, it comes with full instructions, also try visiting your own Doctor, he can advise you as well as performing the tests, also if you are diabetic he will register you and your prescriptions will be free.
These tests are performed by pricking the finger and testing a small blob of blood no bigger than this letter 'o'.
The glucose meter is the best way to test at home. I tested first thing in the morning, right before breakfast, one hour after breakfast, two hours after breakfast, right before lunch, one and two hours after lunch, right before dinner, one and 2 hours after dinner and right before going to bed. I did that for about one week, keeping track of all the sugar levels. This will give a doctor some hard facts to make decisions from.
The strips (in the US) cost about $1.00 apiece, unless you get them through insurance (doctor prescribed).
A doctor can run blood tests. He will do a Hemoglobin A1c which will tell him your average blood sugar reading over a 3 month period. He can do a fasting blood glucose test. If he/she prescribes this - ask for a 6 hour one, as that can rule out low blood sugar, too. A 3 hour one will only test for diabetes. Low blood sugar can cause some diabetes-like symptoms.
most all pharmicies sell one time test kits for around $15.00 a doctor will do a simple prick test on your finger and have your blood tested
At the risk of sounding disgusting, taste your urine. If it tastes sweet then you are diabetic. Can't get simpler than that. I think that's where the word comes from, it means "sweet urine"
