what is the risk?

Question: I don't know all the ways hepatitis c is contracted so please bear with me here. If a woman is jailed in a prison cell with another woman for 2 months and this other woman has hepatitis c how likely is the other woman to contract the disease? They shared the same toilet, sink, and shower. Should she be tested?

HEPATITIS C is contracted through blood-to-blood contact. Things to ask: Risky sex, acupuncture without proper autoclaving of needles (ask if needles are disposable-safest), Tattooing with repeat needle use, Using someone elses razor, needle stick of used needle,.There are vaccinations for hep. A, and hep. B, but none for Hep. C. There are, however, treatments. Hep. C may lie dormant for years, so early detection is best if you suspect you've been infected. There are more behaviors that cause C., so I would suggest that you research yourself. Call your local health dept., and they will provide you with all the information you need. They will advise you as to whether you should be tested. Contact your physician, too

Hepatitis is sexually transmitted however if they used the same toilet I would be tested. Its better to be tested and know than to worry needlessly
