Has anyone else had problems with levoxyl (underactive thyroid) giving them bad headaches? any alternatives?
Question:
months of trial and error, ct scan, food elimination and nothing
worked. So, I decided to stop taking my levoxyl to see if my headaches would go away. Withing 2 days my migraines/headaches ended. I have been off the levoxyl for two weeks now with no headaches. I know I need this hormone, but do not want to live with migraines. Has anyone else had this problem with this drug, if so what was your alternative? I was
thinking about trying armour, but havn't talked with my doctor yet.
Answers:
I take the same dose, have for about 10 years now. Call the doctor and let them know what you've found out from not taking it and be prepared for them to chew you out for not taking it. Underactive thyroid that isn't treated can put you in a coma. Personally I haven't had any problems with it, but there has to be something else they can try.
Other Answers:
yes, and it sounds funny, but i stopped taking the generic and started taking synthroid and it helped.
dont take it anymore
I take Levothyroxine 25mg. It is the generic for Synthroid...I too have an underactive thyroid. So far I have had no problems. Ask your doctor about this....Good luck...
If you want to take a completely different approach, (highly recommended), then visit with a Certified Nutritional Consultant or a Naturopath of some kind.
They might have you do an early morning temp test to help define your low thyroid and maybe even recommend a different kind of blood test then what most doctors will order, to more specifically define the problem.
There are herbs and protomorphagens that are proven to work very well with bringing a low functioning thyroid back into balance.
They will also address your eating behaviors and help you to understand what might be standing inyour way.
Often, low thyroid function can be directly linked to candida overgrowth or mercury toxicity, which are two things you'll deal with best by seeing a professional. The Levoxyl like most pharmaceutical drugs has a number of negative side effects while it merely replaces something that your body is having a hard time providing for itself. This "replacing" makes it inevitable that the body will not likely "rebuild & recover", that is why people rarely get off the drugs.
Good Luck

Yes, there is an alternative that helps against migraine as well as a disfunctional thyroid.
Go for a manual one-time treatment called Atlasprofilax. The effect on the self-healing power of the body is simply amazing - own experience. :-)
At present, the treatment is available in California and Europe only, costing about 200 Dollars. Good luck!
