How deep has to be the skin wounds to be infected with aids?

Question:

Answers:
As others have said, HIV/AIDS is contracted through an exchange of bodily fluids.so, a person with HIV/AIDS would have to have their blood, saliva, breast milk, vaginal fluids, semen, etc. enter the bloodstream of another person or enter their system through an orifice, through a wound that leads to the blood stream, through a tear duct, etc.

Depth isn't so much an issue as is the question of whether the infected person is bleeding or leaking a bodily fluid, and where that fluid comes into contact with another.

If you are worried about a specific incident, I suggest visiting the website for the "Center for Disease Control," or "The National AIDS Fund," or speaking with your health care provider or a member of your local HIV/AIDS testing agency.

Other Answers:
last I checked you could only get aids through bodily fluid transfers, i.e.transfusions, etc. not open wounds.

it only has to be a scratch Just an opening in the skin ,doesn't have to be deep.

The depth of a wound doesn't really make any difference unless infected blood or body fluids of someone infected with HIV penetrates into the body or blood of the wounded person. As with all viruses, it just takes a tiny amount of viral particles to spread the virus so a tiny wound and bad luck could mean potential infection.

the only way to contract the virus is if his open wound touches yours

Just to add to Elspeth's info, (which is excellent), each bodily fluid has differing amounts of HIV/AIDS in it. There is very little in fluids such as saliva, but large amounts in blood or semen.

Also, HIV/AIDS is a fairly weak virus. By that I mean that it isn't able to live outside of the human body very long. Whenever the fluid that is in dries, the virus dies.
