why is the pharmacutical drug SATIVEX so hard to get on prescription? This is the cannabis equivalent for us?

Question:
M.S sufferers. It is very effective but almost impossible to get? If it were that I was using heroin for example I would be given methodone no problem and I wondered if any body else out there is experiencing the same problem or just your views on this subject, thanks

Answers:
GW pharmaceuticals discovered Sativex and Bayer has the exclusive rights but it is only avalible in Canada right now.it is very expensive (about $200 for a 10 days supply) This product is awaiting US approval. There is however Marinol which is also made of THC and legal in the US.it was approved in 1985 and depending on the diagnosis, may health plans cover it. 25,000 rx's for Marinol are written every month in the US. that may be something to look into.
in that case the answer is very obvious
