I was wondering if people can get alzehiemers even though they are not elderly/old.

Yeah, I've seen 40's end-stage, so they probably got it in their 30's.
35 is the youngest.

age: 31
I am a nurse and I have known people in their forties with alzheimers. Also it is not uncommon for people with down syndrome to develop alzheimers in their thirties.
I USED to think that was pretty much reserved for the elderly in our population who have reached age 70 or above, but I'm starting to re-think that of late. I recently ran across someone in their early 50's in the later stages, and that blew me away. And now I see by some of these answsers it's even younger than that! (gasp!!)
I think that the youngest person that has been reported was 18. Most of the very young people also have down's syndrome. Early onset Alzheimer's can affect in 30s but more common in late 40's & 50's. Late onset Alzheimer's is 65+. There is a genetic link to families with early onset, but none with the late onset.
