what is the most expensive medication?
Question:
it can be a Bottle or a injection
Answers:
I work in cancer research, so we work with a lot of drugs. We're using an experimental drug called Velcade - it's about $800 per vial (that's a single-use vial). It's a proteasome inhibitor. Of course, $800 is our cost.who know's how much they bill insurance for it.
I also have a friend with two premature babies.they take vaccines so that they don't get RSV - that shot is $1,200.
I used to work in cardiology - there is a special stent (a small coil that is placed inside a blood vessel) that they use to open blocked arteries when someone gets angioplasty, this one is made by Johnson & Johnson and it's called a Cypher stent, because it's coated with a drug called Sirolimus - they bill patients $12,000 for that. (it's not really a drug, per say)

The most expensive medication I've come in contact with was lovenox. It is an anti coagulant, and with insurance, it was $100.00 an injection. That price was for 100 mg, and I took that twice a day for a few weeks. That was pretty expensive, for me!
this is the best I can give you (as far as a reference goes), but I would think that Cancer and AIDS cocktails are the most expensive. Diabetes has a lot of cost with it too, insulin, syringes, test strips.

Rituximab - I think it was in the order of about $5,000 per injection five years ago. This is used for lymphoma. Had five of these, but there is a good success rate w/it.
