diabetes information?

Question:
what will happen if the person not taken his metformin pill what the site effect of this medician.

Answers:
If you don't take your metformin, your diabetes will get worse. Simple as that. Your blood sugar will start to get higher, which means that you have a greater chance of seeing the serious side effects of diabetes--heart disease, blindness, amputation of your feet, kidney failure, and other nasty stuff.

Now, I am NOT saying that missing a single pill one time will cause all this stuff. It won't. Diabetes is a funny disease, because it usually moves so gradually. So, if you forget an occasional pill, it is not too serious, as long as you don't forget very often. But if you go a week without pills, a month without pills, or if you are only taking them every other day or a couple of times a week ("when you think about it") you are taking a big risk.

Side effects are pretty minimal for most people. One "side effect" that is really good is that there is evidence that the metformin actually has a protective effect on your pancreas. In other words, it helps two ways--by making your body use its insulin more effectively AND by slowing down any deterioration of your ability to make insulin. Cool! One other side effect that many people see is that they lose weight if they are overweight. Also pretty neat.

Take your pills.

Other Answers:
The possibility of needing insulin injections will increase. Metformin is designed to help regulate your pancreatic function so that things will not get worse. Please talk with a Pharmacist about this. They are probably the most educated profession in the world, especially when it comes to medication.
