Question:
I just wondered if they have to use a shock word does it always manifest itself as a swear word

Answers:
Tourette's syndrome is a neurologic disorder than affects the brain's ability to suppress impulsive behavior. Tourette's patients are identified not only by involuntary vocalizations but also by involuntary movements. The vocalizations don't always include "bad" words but may often because of the lack of impulse control.

Not all people with Tourettes are affected by this
I asked my dad this just the other day (he's a doctor) it isn't just swear words they use, tourrettes is trigged by the affected hearing AGGRESIVE or HIGHLY TONED language, e.g words used when others around them are angry.
Most people however when angry swear hence they pick this language up.
people swear when they are frustrated that's what happens to them at the time it's because they want to say somthing else but get angry with themselves
Why shouldn't they use them? They're some of the funniest & most versatile words I know.
Most people who have Tourettes do not use use swear words. It is just that the media like to expose this side. If a sufferer is exposed to swearing then they are more likely to swear. Therfore if someone with Tourettes is presented with, let's say, song titles they will more than likely blurt out the song titles..
buggered if I know!
It's not always inappropriate words that are used. Many times, it's whatever words are in the person's thoughts. If the person is angry, the words may be a little more harsh. If the y are thinking of what they might want to have for dinner later, they might yell out roasted chicken pot pies! In some cases, the inappropriate words come out simply because it is an outburst, loud and seemingly obnoxious, even though they don't mean to be.
