Questions about dimentia?

Question:
If someone has dimentia or alzheimers, and they think something is true, (even though it's not,) heard from a friend that you're supposed to sort of go along with it, so as not to confuse the person even more, but I feel funny doing that. Is this true do you think?

Answers:
I had a great answer to this question but I forgot it. I hope all is well with you and your family. I have something to do. Thanks.

My Mom suffered from dementia. At first, I'd try to correct her on things, but it just upset both of us. So, if it wasn't causing her distress to think a certain thing, I just let her think it. If it was upsetting her, I'd try to distract her attention to something else. I found that touching her a lot was very helpful, as was using a very calm, soft voice. I got a lot of help from "The Thirty-Six Hour Day" as well as support from friends. There are a lot of support groups, as well as Internet Chat rooms.

Good luck to you and your loved one!
I say let the person with dementia think whatever they want. If you tell them the truth rather than going along, they are probably going to forget everything you said in the first place. You can't really cure a crazy person.
The person should be reoriented to a safe place. Someone with demtia or alzhimers cannot understand a detailed explanation. example: if a person with this problem calls you by someone elses name etc you should say. I am (insert name here) ..what would you like to talk about..etc...dont just go along ..
Do you mean "Dementia"?
