How to give insulin shots to diabetics?
Question:
Answers:
First you need to practice on an orange.Get the feel of it.
Pull the syringe down and fill it with air.Inject the bottle with the air.Turn the insulin upside down and fill the syring to the amount of units you want.Pull it out.
Simply pull up a bit of fat and inject right into that area.
There is no need for alcohol wipes. That is an unnecessary expense the diabetes care companies are trying to get us to pay.No studies show any effectiveness in cleaning the area.
Good luck
When putting insulin in the needles make sure you tap the needle and get the extra air out of the needle out before you inject the insulin into the area desired. You can give the shots in the arms, thighs, or stomach areas. Always give in the fatty areas. Always throw away the needles after each use. "You can practice on fruit such as a orange at first if needed."
You may mix your Insulin's but never mix the Insulin call Lantus with any other Insulin that has to be administered by it self.
when you put the insilin in the needle make sure you get all of the air bubbles out by tapping on it.The bubble is'nt bad but they just won;t get the insilin!
pinch the skin and plunge the needle into the skin..the faster you put it in the faster it's over, count to ten, then take the needle out!
note:you should always wipe the insilin bottle and skin with an alcohal swab!
ps.you can give the shot in the arms, theighs, stomach, and butt!
good luck!
