I have a stuffed toys from a person who had contagious antibiotic-resi. bacteria. Should I throw it away?

Question:
It belonged to my late sister. She had it in a long-term care facility before she died. Some say it is okay to keep, others say it must be thrown away. It is special, but I do not want to risk my family's health. I have many other things to remember her by, so does it need to be thrown away or can it be kept?

Answers:
Just to be on the safe side.yes I'd throw them away. You say you have other things to remember her by. She would not have wanted you to become ill because of her.

Other Answers:
I'd get rid of them, why take a chance.

Febreeze and Lisol it and you should be good Wash it I think it would be safe then.

the bugs only live out of the body for about 24 hours try putting it into a pillow case and wash it in hot water. if your still on sure toss it.

Maybe there is some way to sterilize them? You should ask a local dry cleaners, or better yet, talk to someone who works in a hospital laundry or someplace like that.

Put them in a freezer for a few days. No bacteria can survive freezing.
