Hello can this be reversed.?

Question:
I am curious, can type II diabetes be reversed with proper diet, excercise and weight reduction? or is it once your diagnosed with it , it's with you for life? I've heard conflicting stories before on this. What do you think?

Answers:
It can be reversed. My sister was extremely overweight. She was diagnosed with type II diabetes. After losing a lot of weight and taking care of herself with good diet and exercise, all symptoms of diabetes went away. She is no longer considered a diabetic and takes no medication for it.

Other Answers:
try low carb diet
It is with you for life, but it can be controlled very well, but still needs to be controlled, it is an irriversible disease.
you can't get rid of diabetes, but you can control it with a healthy lifestyle.
Yes, it can be controlled by diet & exercise.
You may always be at risk, stay in touch with you Dr.
Type 2 diabetes cant be cured on a diet. The only way you can get rid of it is if scientists find a cure. Sorry!
I agree with answer number 2. I am diabetic, controlled by diet alone. My doctor does not know that I took myself off the metformin, but I have been off for over 6 months. My HA1c was 6.3 at last reading.

I found out that I have a systemic yeast infection, and that that condition can aggravate diabetes type II. Check out the yeast link at www.hufa.org, as yeast can overgrow easily in "sweet" bodies, like ours.
You need a low fat, low sugar diet. Also, Chinese medicine has been successful with reversing it, as long as the person has not used insulin shots for more than a year or two.

Look into alternative treatments; the "modern medicine" states that it is not reversible.
diabetes are with u for life, there is no cure for it, but u can eat right and excersise and get it to the point, where u don't have to do insulin or take pills for it, the best thing to do is avoid alll white food, that contains loads of carbs, any thing that is the color of white is loaded with carbs
diabetes is a disease related to insufficient insulin production fro beta cells in the pancreas,so once diagnosed can not be reversed but if you recently diagnosed your doctor may advice you to reduce weight if you are over weight ,do exercises or try to eat 4-5 times daily but small quantities rather than 3 big meals. I think this may help good luck
Ask your doctor. But if you are at the point where you are not on pills or insulin yet it can be controlled thorugh diet. IT CANNOT BE CURED! The answer is simply sensible eating however. No sugars. more focus on eating well.
No way!!! No cure for diabetes but you can controll type two with diet and exercise and may not need the pills.
It can be reversed but with a high protein diet and proper exercise. You will have to continue checking your bs levels often. It is possible. good luck.
An pbese person with Type II and loses weight and goes on a healthy regime might keep it so well under control that a good diet is all that is required. A glucose tolerance test might still be abnormal.
you can control your diabetes with diet and exercise. but you will still need to keep track of your sugars, you may keep them in control for a long time but all it takes is one bad day to throw them out of whack again
In order to keep your blood sugar level under control, read the following paragraph to update your knowledge about diabetes:

You need not to panic to visit a doctor. There are no Allopathic medicines available in the market that will cure the diabetic conditions of humans but they will control the disorder up to certain levels. The disease is developed due to eating disorders and hereditary. In the first place, I have never accepted diabetes as disease but considered it to be a disorder. The medicine is readily available at home in the form of natural products and you need not to go to market to purchase expensive medicines. To keep the sugar level under control, follow my suggestions and see the difference. Drink the juice of one bitter gourd, one cucumber and one tomato on empty stomach in the morning on a regular basis (drink this juice twice a day if you are insulin dependent) until you start feeling relief and your blood sugar level starts decreasing and continue further for a very long time until your sugar level reaches border line. The sugar level will certainly come down. Eat plenty of cucumber before meal to quench your thrust and to fill your empty stomach. Cucumbers are considered and proved to be very good for diabetic patients. Diabetic patients are always hungry to eat but can not eat all. Avoid banana, mango, custard apple and sweets like ice cream, pastry and cold drinks totally. If you are insulin dependent, even eating rice would be very harmful. You can eat fruits like guava, pineapple, pomegranate, papaya, muskmelon and watermelon. Taking one tea-spoon Fenugreek powder and quarter tea-spoon cinnamon powder on empty stomach, before breakfast daily, would be beneficial to diabetic patients. Regular brisk walking for one hour daily would be the best ideal medicine for diabetic patients. Cut down on non-vegetarian, fast, spicy and oily food, aerated cold drinks and foods rich in calories. Correct constipation. Avoid alcohol and tobacco also. Tea and coffee are also bad for health because they promote calcium excretion from the body and calcium loss from bones. Drink plenty of water daily. Take one tablet of Diabecon (By Himalaya an Herbal Health Care Company in India) twice a day as a maintenance dose. I would recommend that you watch a show called Low Carb And Loving It on the Food Network Channel and you can find it on their web site. The chef who does that show weighed in at 470 pounds, and his doctor told him to lose weight or he would be a dead man. He lost 260 pounds on that lifestyle and a son of his went from 300 pounds down to 140 pounds. His wife lost 75 pounds. He is a the head chef for Disney. He has a great attitude and you will like it only it is on very early in the morning and you might want to record it.

It is a known fact with diabetes that being overweight makes a person become insulin resistant; thus diabetes, but losing weigh can reverse this to some extent. In SOME cases, losing enough weight will make your body not be insulin resistant and whatever insulin you do have will work.

I think eating like the Food Network chef, mentioned above might help you some. I have diabetes type ll myself, and it is very hard to stick to 45 to 60 carbs per meal like the VA wants me to do. Another show that comes on afterwards is informative and it is called The Calorie Commando. It may be of some value ot you in losing weight and controlling your diabetes, but above all, do what your doctor says. They know better than we do.

Generally speaking it is not reversible. Considering that your question is about conflicting information... Some people who do a wonderous job of proper diet, exercise and healthy weight range may reverse or at least seem to have. Why? Because of their lifesyle change and continued healthy choices they are maintaining their body's ability to work proprerly with their disease. They may not have had the disease or it was mild enough that their body has adapted or healed from a temporary problem. Keep in mind that if it is a temporary problem, this still indicates a weakness in that body and the person should continue to make lifestyle choices based on the diagnosis. The lifestyle (diet, excercie...) directions for a diabetic are the usual healthy choices for nearly everyone (some diseases require unusual diets or exercise).
