First I feel for you. I think it is wonderful that you are going out and trying to preach about the dangers of STD. I think it would be a big plus if the school would give them out..but at what age? My step kids are in 5th grade and they want so badly to have a girl friend. I wonder too if they would use them. I think my step boys would have the feeling of.it would never happen to me. They can't even remember their homework folder half the time. I wonder if they would remember to bring a condom if they were to go out on a date. I wish they would preach abstinence. If they give them condoms it might be likes saying.it's okay to have sex. I have a little mixed feelings. But I do believe better safe than sorry.
I think thats it's great that highs schools hand out condoms. It's good education if teens just want to open one up to figure out how to use them, or if they really wanna use them. It prevents dieseases and pregnancy, and if someone handed it to my daughter i'd have no problem with it. Knowledge is power, we have to quit putting all of our efforts into figuring out how to stop them, all those this is a good cause. And need to consider that we cant stop everyone instead we need to educate them. It happened in the 60's and 60's it's just we were to embarrassed to discuss it, it's time to get past that and teach them that their bodies are ok, they just need to learn to use them responsibly
I think it's very important that measures be available to reduce and eliminate the transmission of any STD and prevent pregnancy. Most colleges in my area offer a fishbowl of condoms in the office, and unfortunately, South Florida has a very high prevalence of HIV. I'm not sure about high schools though, and we have a restupidican governor currently that thinks that if birth control isn't available, people won't have sex.
If abstinence education/wait till you're married worked, the significant number of females from my graduating class in Arkansas single and pregnant/have already had children would not exist.
yes, I think it could prevent some cases. But I also think you need to teach them that condoms aren't foolproof. If people, like me, can get pregnant because of condom accidents, then people can contract HIV through condom accidents.
I hope you're stressing the importance of abstanance as well. I do not think it is a contradiction to say "Please abstain, but if you choose not to, then here are some condoms".
And don't forget to mention that other diseases such as herpes, cannot be prevented by condom use.
