Answers:
If your blood test is positive for syphilis - and you don't get one - it can mean the you've got special antibodies in your blood, which are similar to the antibodies again the syphilis. The antibodies are part of the human protective system, they are for find and kill the foreign things, e.g. the bacteria that causes syphilis in your body. In the blood test it's searched for these antibodies, and it is positive if you've ever meet the bacterium. OR it can be a kind of mistake of your immune system, when an antibody - which is similar to the one against the syphilis- is product against one part of your own body. So they're called auto-antibody. In most cases these antibodies don't have any significance, but they can also be the sign of an autoimmune disease e.g. SLE (lupus), maybe you've heard about it. You should see an immunologist who can help you find the reason of the positive test.

If you have been exposed to lyme disease, that could cause a false positive.
