Please help identify these symptoms?

Question:
Serious replies only please. I have a bleeding sore in the upper part of the crack of my buttocks. This is not the first time I have had this happen. It starts out as an itch and then progresses to stinging when touched, i.e. while taking a shower. I notice the blood when I wipe the area. When it has happened before I kept it clean and dry as possible and put peroxide on it. It went a way but is back again. What could this be. I know my oldest daughter has suffered from boils before and said she had the same itching the soreness. However, hers got bad enough to have to be drained by a doctor and antibiotics given. I don't experience that kind of pain but it is irritating. Please give me a medical opinion of what this could be and if it is serious.

Answers:
Just to suggest something besides a cyst or boil, skin can become irritated by dryness or wetness and itch and a crack or fissure can occur that will bleed. I've experienced that in hot humid seasons when I've sweated a lot...usually in folds of skin like under the breasts and where your's is. Yes, keeping it dry will be good, but perhaps coating it with something like you'd use on a baby's bottom ( desitin type ointment, etc.) or if the itch is really bad, you may have a fungal infection too and nystantin or otc athlete's foot med might help. The stinging is due to the raw exposed area where the skin has broken open. A boil usually forms pus and a lot of bleeding. If you are just getting a dab from the wiping, I think your skin has just formed a crack, medically called a fissure. Hope you get some relief soon.
Check out www.hufa.org - the yeast link. If peroxide or other anti fungals cure it but it comes back, then it might be a systemic yeast syndrome. Mine comes out as a itchy, then bleeding rash in moist dark places (and I have a few, being as large as I am).
