How to treat an inferiority complex:
DON'T BE SO INFERIOR!
Try being outgoing and over-entergetic.
This is going to sound harsh but you're old enough not to blame mommy and daddy for your problems. If you feel inferior, work on areas that you feel you need self improvement in - read, workout, join activity clubs, volunteer in your community. And give yourself a break, you're 16! Wasted your life? Everything before 23 was useless anyhow except in preparation for the rest. You've got craploads of hormones riding your body. It gets better in a few years.
Honey, you have not wasted your life - your life is really just beginning so make a point to enjoy it.
Many, many people have low self-esteem. It's not entirely the fault of parents but is built slowly through school interaction and society in general. Human beings have a knack for hearing all the negative things while ignoring all the positive things they've ever heard about themselves. We are usually over sensitive to any criticism about ourself.or even what we perceive to be criticism.
To build your self esteem you first need to stop blaming anyone and take full responsibility for your own feelings.
Secondly, you need to take a good personal inventory to discover what you are really all about. Check your ethics and your morals..check your value system and personality..check your attitude, behavior, compassion, honesty, humility, etc. etc.
Since no one but you will know any of this, be honest with yourself and then you can try to correct what you think you lack and remove what you have that holds you back.
Imagine what you would like in someone else and determine that you are going to have it yourself. If it's patience, work on being more patient. If it's gratitude, work on that, etc. etc.
Observe yourself to see if you are doing the things that you have decided you want to be part of your own character - if not, start now. When you see yourself behaving in a kinder, more generous and caring way, pat yourself on the back.it is called 'growth'.
Observe your physical as well as the mental and make any changes that you don't like about the way you dress or carry yourself. You can change your hairstyle, your make up. In other words create yourself as the person you admire little by little and never falter on that.
Now that you know what a good human being you really are, walk proudly and show confidence. Even if you don't feel so confident, show other people that you are and eventually it will be so.
Always stay true to the person you choose to be. Don't be afraid to apologize to someone or to reach out with a kind word if someone is hurting. You aren't quite a woman yet, but you will be and if you've built your self esteem and learned to love yourself, you will be a wonderful one. Start by refusing to get angry beyond reason. You can stop and walk away for a short time to get control of your anger.
Start acting more mature. You obviously know that you aren't doing that so it should be pretty easy to change.
We are all learning how to live and interact in this world - every day of our lives. That includes your parents. Give them a break too. They are only people, just like you and me.
This is our only life here on earth and it's not forever..be the best you can be and make yourself happy so you won't have any regrets when you are old.
