Not really. I have seen people on like 150 U of lantus before. The only problem is that insulin syringes don't go up that high and they have to use multiple syringes. And therefore multiple shots.

Lantus is long-acting. It's not what you would take for a high bg. You should dose with your fast-acting insulin- Humalog or whatever you take.

i am on 45 units of lantus at night but when it comes to high blood sugars during the day the doc has me on regular insulin sliding scale for a high blood sugar u want to use something fast acting the lantus is a slow release formula and can take a while to lower a high blood sugar.

Do Not take more Lanrus for high BG. You need to take Novolog or Humalog, a short, fast acting insulin.

PLEASE its been said in all the other answers but I feel it needs to be stressed.Lantus IS NOT for a high BG! Lantus is a 24 hour steady control in sulin & not to be used for bolus injections!! you need to be using a fast acting insulin like a humalog/novolog..you should really see you Dr about this

Yes, you can max out on any and every med. Please take your medicine only as directed by your doctor! If your current dosing is not covering your sugars , then you need to let your doctor know so that the dosing schedule can be appropriately adjusted.
