Does anyone else here have Sarcoidosis? Or ever heard of it???

Question:
Just wondering if anyone has ever heard of this disease and what their experience has been with it.

anyone?

Answers:
My husband had it a few years ago. He was in construction, and the doctors think that it was exposure to all the dust and paint and glue fumes present on the sites. It made him cough until he barfed almost every day. When he stopped working, it took about a year to clear up out of his lungs. Now he is fine, and working another job that does not have him exposed to all that.

However...since there was only evidence, not PROOF, that he could not work due to exposure to chemicals on the job, he didn't get a penny for workman's comp. Our insurance company's doctors pretended that it was not a disease caused by anything on the job, and covered NOTHING, despite fights and witness from a sarcoidosis specialist. Apparantly, coughing until he barfed every day was not a serious enough reason for him to have to stop working. We had to make a 14-hour drive to see a specialist that dealt with the disease, as we lived in a somewhat remote area. We only made it through because I had a good, steady job.

But, like I said, he is now in good health. The doctor advised to stay away from dust and fume situations, or else a recurrance could arise. We are both working, and life is good again! There are some support groups available on the net, if you google sarcoidosis and support. It is a disease that manifests itself in different ways in different parts of the body, and very little is known about its causes and cures. Our experience was a little over 6 years ago, and I hope for your sake that the available information has improved since then!
