diabetic coma question part 2?

Question:
my first question was posted stating that a friend of mine had stopped taking his medication and gone into a diabetic coma. we have been getting updates throughout the day and the first update was that when someone held his hand he squeezed it lightly. i know that could have been a muscular reflex so i didn't get my hopes up. now the newest update is that the doctors had shone lights in his eyes and he turned his head slightly to react. is this progress? i want to say yes but i want some unbiased answers.

Answers:
my brother and i are diabetics in 2003 he was in a coma for the same reason, he stopped his meds but he finally came out of it. I'm sorry last year he stopped taking them again and he died. Tell your friend when he comes out of it how good life really is and how much people care. Good Luck

Other Answers:
I've been a type 1 diabetic for 39 years. I've never gone into a diabetic comma but I've never stopped taking my insulin either. Reacting to light sounds good. Please tell your friend to take his insulin, check his blood sugars and watch his diet. When I was younger, I couldn't check my blood sugars at home, it was urine tests that weren't accurate. Now your friend can live a long healthy life with modern medical technology. Regulating blood sugars are much easier with a glucose meter. Keep BS in check and take care of himself and he'll live a long productive life. Good luck to both of you.
