Is there a support person in Scottsdale, Az. who has had neck cancer (squamous cell carcinoma)?

Question:

Answers:
Squamous cell carcinoma is not neck cancer, it's a type of skin cancer. It commonly appears in the face area (ears, nose, neck) because those are the sites that are commonly exposed to sun.

I doubt that you'll find a support group for SCC. Squamous cell carcinoma is quite common and when detected early (before it metastasizes) is totally curable. If you had it, got it removed and your doctor said you were fine. You will be fine for real.

I am not from Scottsdale, AZ., but you may want to reach the Health Department for your county. You want to contact department that deals with cancer related questions. Hopefully they can provide you with information in finding a support group.
I had SCC and had surgery last year (at this time) and I was sent to a very good Dr in Indianapolis because of the location (on the crease between my nose and cheek) and the surgery was a complete success and the scar is almost invisible! Of course when I first heard those big words squamous cell carcinoma CANCER.. I was scared!! But all is great.HOWEVER I NO longer visit tanning beds!
