i believe it something called dental dams. Now that's a question that is hard to answer. No effective protection for some DST's I'd say (like AIDS and some others). This answer only medical care staff can answer properly, and not all of them I'd say (gotta be an expert).
If you're going down on each other then you could use a dental dam, apart from that I can't think of any other kind of protection for women.
