Would a fasting blood sugar of 150 affect my hypothyroidism?
Question:
Answers:
Um, one word, D O C T O R. Only your doctor can inturpret lab results. Not the idiots here.
Other Answers:
Most assuredly, a FBS of 150 is inordinately high, it takes three FBS greater than 100 to give you a definitive diagnosis of diabetes or an A1C test greater than six. If you think you have diabetes, best get some more testing to be sure.
Diabetes will definitely impact your thyroid problem and your meds should be adjusted by an endocrinologist.
i have no idea, but this sounds to me like you need to
see your doctor right away. fbs that high can be very
dangerous and sometimes the damage cannot be
corrected. see your doctor and good luck.
Your fasting blood sugar should not have an impact on your hypothyroidism. Here's a bit of clarification on TSH:
TSH stands for Thyroid Stimulating Hormone. This is what makes your thyroid gland produce your actual thyroid hormones (T3 and T4). That means if TSH is high, your thyroid is not working well (or you are not getting enough supplementation), and your brain is sending signals to your thyroid to produce more hormone.
As TSH goes down, you are producing more thyroid hormone (or taking a higher dose of supplementation), so your brain decreases the signal as you don't need to make as much thyroid hormones.
So in summary, TSH is inversely related to thyroid function. If your TSH is high, your thryoid is not making much hormone. If your TSH is low, your thyroid is making adequate hormone.
Yes, it could have been lowered from fasting, but is still in a normal range. If you are worried, ask your doctor.
